Farias’ “One Straw At A Time” campaign is all about bringing awareness to something that we may not even think about. The problem with plastic straws is that they are not recycled. Unlike larger plastics that can be recycled, straws, because they are so small, have a tendency to fall through cracks and can damage recycling equipment.
Farias’ mission is to eliminate the use of plastic straws even if it is only one straw at a time. “If we begin using our own biodegradable straws it will be better for our earth. It is a simple initiative, whether we go to a restaurant or drive-through, you can always tell your server that you already have your own straw so not to bring one or put one with your take-out order.”
